 tarting the 1st of November we all anxiously wait for those crisp cold days to make the ‘tips’ set and the needles 'stay' assuring a longlasting, aromatic and rich green decoration for the Holidays. When the time is right Maine Creations and Island Evergreens gatherers take to the Maine Woods to go ‘brushing’. Brushing is the collecting of Fir.
 ast years brushing gave this years a better crop because of the way the tree is tipped. The tips are snapped off uniformly around the tree, balancing the tree causing more to grow at the ends of its branches. The tips are bundled together and are now called brush.
he brush is brought in and the wreaths are assembled in the cold barn of our 1800s Farmhouse. Working as quickly as possible to keep the Fir fresh and their hands warm, the 6 wreath-makers are called to lunch by Paul’s 90 year old mother’s steaming chicken soup with dumplings. She says she’s “just keeping busy!” Lunch is over, the inspection begins. Each wreath and centerpiece is inspected by Paul Salisbury, the owner, before shipment. Quality from start to finish. All in the Nick of time for the Holidays!
